Wherever Volt goes, success follows. After our GA in Bucharest, Volt Romania gained 7 seats at the local level. Following our Campaign Kickoff event in Brussels, 5 of our members now sit there as Members of the European Parliament. Holding our GA in Albania is a testament to our intention to bring fresh ideas and positive energy into the Balkans’ political arena.
Albania has been an official candidate for accession to the EU for over 10 years, yet little progress has been made in the negotiations, corruption is still widespread throughout the country, and political participation is at an all time low. Following our recent electoral successes throughout Europe, Volt aims to bring hope to Albanians.
For the first time in history, hundreds of Volters will travel outside the borders of the European Union to bring equality, democracy, and dynamism to Albanian politics.
Volt is a pan-European movement. Our vision is to create a better future for all Europeans, not just those living within the borders of the European Union. This GA will be a unique opportunity to discuss common challenges in EU candidate countries, and to develop our strategy to promote pan-Europeanism in these countries.
