Elmar Theune Transfers Provincial Council Membership to David Eissens
Last month, the board of Volt Gelderland informed its members about a change in our parliamentary group: Elmar Theune is transferring her seat in the Provincial Council to David Eissens. Over the past years, Elmar has contributed to our movement in Gelderland with great dedication. In the letter below, Elmar further explains her reasons for this decision.

Dear Volters in Gelderland,
By means of this letter / With this letter (ook prima) I inform you that I am giving up my role as member of the Provincial Council of Gelderland. At the end of the sitting/session/assembly of the Provincial Councilon July 2, 2025,I will switch roles with David Eissens. David will then becomea Member of the Provincial Counciland I will become a committee member. I have a number of reasons for this, which together led to this decision.
Volt is a party that strives to be the voice of the future. I believe that voice is best represented by those who not only help shape that future, but will also live in it for a long time.
I had applied to use my experience to get our brand new political group in the Provincial Council started. As far as I am concerned, this did not necessarily have to be as a Member of the Provincial Council, but at the request of the party I became the lead candidate. I am very happy to be a member of the Provincial Councilfor Volt. I like the political work. And I am proud of the fine and strong team that Vera and I have become together with our committee members and employees. Nevertheless, the idea quickly aroseto give David the opportunity to develop further halfway through the termand to becomethe face of the party in Gelderland together with Vera. David and Vera are part of Volt's future. Gaining experience is important in this context.
Personal reasons were another reason for this change. My mother is now at an age (next month she will be 94) that she needs more and more care. At the moment, it is my three brothers and their partners who mainly look after herNow that this care is becoming more intensive, I want to be able to do more. And theobligations Volt and the Provincial Council place upon me makes this difficult. Henceforth I will be able to get away regularly for a week to help take care of my mother.
Also, I will become a grandmother in August. My son and daughter-in-law have asked if I could take care of their baby one day a week, so the little one won’t need to go to daycare in the first year. I look forward to that immensely, and I want to make time for it.
Finally, I want to get Wageningen's Volt fraction started. I do not yet know in which role, but at least not as a member of the political group. So there is plenty to do.
I’ll still be around, as a committee member, so this is not a final goodbye.
Sincerely,
Elmar
