Volt is aanwezig bij de demonstratie tegen vakantiehuisjes in Vlietland

Projectontwikkelaar Dutch Lake Residence wil 222 vakantiehuisjes bouwen in dit unieke recreatiegebied. Maar de omgevingsvergunning voor het plan is afgewezen vanwege de aanwezigheid van de boommarter, een beschermde diersoort. Toch is de ontwikkelaar al met graven begonnen, terwijl er nog een bezwaar loopt tegen de vergunning. Dat kan natuurlijk niet.

Daarom was Volt aanwezig bij de demonstratie bij het Provinciehuis en eerder die week ook in het recreatiegebied zelf. Daar vormden we een menselijke ketting, waardoor de werkzaamheden tijdelijk zijn stilgelegd.

Volt attends a demonstration against holiday homes in Vlietland

Excavation work has started in the Vlietland recreation area in Leidschendam-Voorburg, even though no nature permit has been issued! So nature is currently being destroyed without the legal procedures having been completed.

Volt Zuid-Holland, together with Party for the Animals, GroenLinks/PvdA, D66 and ChristenUnie, therefore asked oral questions in the Provincial Council about this degradation of the nature reserve and violation of the law.

Project developer Dutch Lake Residence wants to build 222 holiday homes in this unique recreation area. However, the environmental permit for the plan has been rejected because of the presence of the pine marten, a protected species. Yet the developer has already started digging, while an appeal against the permit is still pending. Of course, this is not acceptable.

That is why Volt was present at the demonstration at the Provincial House and earlier in the recreation area itself. There we formed a human chain, temporarily halting work.
