Van alle gemeenschappen in onze stad is ‘Afrikaanse vrouwen’ het meest onbekend. Het continent is enorm, met talloze landen, bevolkingsgroepen en culturen. In de maand van Internationale Vrouwendag komen zij samen in het nieuwe Afrikaanse restaurant in Den Haag "The African Granary" om hun ervaringen in Nederland te delen. Een kans om te luisteren, te ontmoeten en te leren over de diverse culturen, het rijke continent en hun leven in het gesegregeerde Den Haag. Bevolkingsgroepen komen elkaar nauwelijks meer tegen.  En daarom hebben veel Volters geen idee van de realiteit waarin deze vrouwen leven en de talenten die zij hebben. Iedereen is welkom om in gesprek te gaan.

Afrika Meets Volt: Meeting African Women in The Hague

Of all the communities in our city, African women remain the most unknown. The African continent is vast, with countless countries, ethnic groups, and cultures.

During the month of International Women’s Day, African women in The Hague are coming together at the new African restaurant "The African Granary" to share their experiences of living in the Netherlands. This is a unique opportunity to listen, meet, and learn about their diverse cultures, the richness of the continent, and their lives in a segregated The Hague—where communities barely cross paths anymore.

Many Volters have little awareness of the reality these women face or the talents they bring. That’s why everyone is welcome to join the conversation!
