19 maart: bespreking Europastrategie in de Haagse gemeenteraad – kom naar de tribune!

Op 19 maart wordt in de bestuursvergadering van de gemeente Den Haag de Europastrategie besproken. Het Haagse stadsbestuur wil met deze strategie de samenwerking met Europa verstevigen en verbeteren, zodat Den Haag meer invloed heeft op Europees beleid en extra Europese subsidies krijgt.

De speerpunten van de strategie zijn:

• duurzaamheid – energietransitie, circulaire economie en duurzame mobiliteit;

• digitalisering en veiligheid – cybersecurity en digitale weerbaarheid;

• toekomstbestendige economie – innovatieve ecosystemen en eerlijke arbeidsmarkt.

Als Volt Den Haag zien we dit als een goed moment om onze stem extra te laten horen en de Europese samenwerking in onze stad zichtbaarder te maken. Europa is niet iets abstracts of ver weg; het beïnvloedt direct onze leefomgeving, vanaf stadsontwikkeling tot en met de sociale voorzieningen.

De bestuursvergadering is openbaar. We kunnen als lokaal team van een Europese partij gezamenlijk op de tribune zitten. Dit is een kans om als Volt Den Haag te laten zien dat wij de Europese samenwerking - en de kansen die dit biedt - serieus nemen. En we gaan nog een stap verder.  Naast onze aanwezigheid op de tribune zou het leuk zijn als enkele Volters het woord gaan voeren om de gemeenteraad te laten weten dat er in Den Haag een beweging is die een sterker, democratischer en socialer Europa steunt. Dit is de kans om te laten zien dat Volt gelooft dat Den Haag als stad van vrede en recht een goede Europese samenwerking vraagt èn wijst op het belang van Europese fondsen voor de stad.

On March 19, the Municipal Executive of The Hague will discuss the European Strategy during its board meeting.

With this strategy, the city government aims to strengthen and improve cooperation with Europe, ensuring that The Hague has more influence on European policies and gains additional European subsidies. The key focus areas of the strategy are:

• Sustainability – energy transition, circular economy, and sustainable mobility;

• Digitalization and security – cybersecurity and digital resilience;

• Future-proof economy – innovative ecosystems and a fair labor market.

As Volt The Hague, we see this as a great opportunity to make our voice heard and to highlight European cooperation in our city. Europe is not something abstract or distant; it directly impacts our daily lives, from urban development to social services.

The board meeting is public. As a local team of a European party, we can sit together in the audience. This is a chance to show that Volt The Hague takes European cooperation—and the opportunities it brings—seriously. But we want to go even further. Besides being present in the audience, it would be great if some Volters spoke during the meeting to let the city council know that there is a movement in The Hague that supports a stronger, more democratic, and more social Europe.

This is our opportunity to show that Volt believes The Hague, as the city of peace and justice, requires strong European cooperation and to emphasize the importance of European funding for the city.
